Marathon Petroleum Corporation
KLA recently completed a robust Sumitomo FutureFLEX Air Blown Fiber installation at the Marathon Petroleum facility in Detroit, Michigan. Spanning several years and multiple projects, KLA upgraded the existing infrastructure and pulled new ABF tube cable across 6 complexes and 9 buildings across the facility. KLA adhered to Marathon's strict safety guidelines while installing the cable both underground and in conduit throughout the complexes. In addition to testing and re-certifying the existing ABF tube cable, KLA installed dozens of fiber junction boxes, pulled over 30,000 feet of new tube cable, and blew in over 150,000 feet of air blown fiber. By using Sumitomo LYNX Splice-On connectors, KLA was able to extend Marathon a 25 year Sumitomo warranty for the tube, fiber and connectors. Through a rigorous documentation process, KLA helped Marathon establish their expectations for test results going forward. KLA is also the trusted contractor for the termination and testing of all types of fiber installed across the Marathon facility.
