KLA Laboratories Inc. recently connected the Cosmopolitan’s primary property with several remote locations via point to point wireless technology. The Cosmopolitan is a unique luxury resort in the heart of the Las Vegas strip.
The Cosmopolitan was in need of an auxiliary circuit to back up its casino operations. Often the cost of adjacent work, i.e. trenching, concrete and curb repair greatly outweighs the cost of the fiber in a traditional installation. In conjunction with KLA’s partner, Century Link, KLA was able to provide the property with the design and installation of a backup circuit on a wireless platform to protect the property against unforeseen outages. KLA placed two 1 Gig and two 10 Gig microwave circuits (among the first 10 GB Microwave technology installations) to connect the Cosmopolitan’s main property to three remote locations, as well as CenturyLink’s Central Office. This allowed for failover with enough bandwidth to keep everything moving on the property even if their primary circuit is interrupted.
